@Mejson See, that's the thing, adobe were running out of stuff to update and charge subscription service for. Flash 8 and Flash CS were fully usable and professional if you knew what you were doing. Thus no one wanted to move to the new upgrades without being forced.
It almost makes me want to get myself a copy of flash and animate again. Though I haven't bothered learning how to convert from swf/fla to html5 yet.

Honestly, I have the impression that I studied for almost 20 years to get to this level... in 1995 there were already great artists - graphic designers, musicians and animators. And now hardly anyone does anything on NG, and I am the most talented animator, and probably no one generally notices :P I am like a king in a dead zone :P
@Mejson Nothing wrong with that. I feel the same though about my music. I regularly use soundfonts -- for years those instruments have been looked down on as unprofessional. But it works. Those who become fans of your work will be happy at the least that you are consistent and constantly improving.
Thanks! Maybe it's a bit of a shame that I lost interest in my work - I'm talking about the CS series, but oh well... it was getting pretty boring and repetitive for me, at some point there was nothing developing in it. Although there was a time when I was similarly popular on the main forum :P
Yeah, I don't know what's up with this talk that something is outdated, if something works - and works great, why change it? I don't see the point in it, oh well, but it's probably the same as changing your phone to a newer model - pure stupidity...

@Mejson I encountered that pure stupidity in March of this year -- an update to Android OS broke my galaxy phone, so that it would not access the antenna tower! Planned obsolescence is the technical term. But I like yours better: stupidity!
Well, exactly. I feel sorry for you... And also - I can't stand these phone deals because people use their phones in 4% of all options, and they still buy new phones, and the old one still works - a classic reason for vanity and showing off a new phone, ehhh, no logic to bother with it...

Hey! Glad to see you still working. I know what you mean about girlfriends thinking flash work is doing nothing -- but I would say keeping your passion alive is more than something.
They don't want you to know the real story with flash going out. It was becoming so accessible, and folks so skilled, it was displacing much more expensive programs that adobe wanted to roll out. Plus, the frames in flash were easier to load than the same amount in video. Just think how complex an animation could be, how long, and the small filesize needed.
Now, for the same crisp quality, gigabytes are needed of video. I vote we go BACK to flash, and simply block functions which they claimed were security risks.

Hey! I'm still working :P Thanks for understanding! It's nice to hear that :) Well, many people think that work is only for money, and outside of it you should only do relaxation and pleasure.
They don't want to? Hmm very possible... well, as always it was about money. Well, supply and demand - that's how it works unfortunately. If people are still happy with Flash and didn't need newer programs, Adobe certainly wouldn't make money. Yes, I know, needed :) I will also try to reduce the size of the swf file in the distant future. :P
