Damn... I didn't expect that... this project will take us 5 months (July 2 - November 30) XD a bit long :P

When you said five months below I was thinking five months from NOW! XD That would've been unexpected... but yeah time sure flew with this one...

Regarding a friend that knows AS3, I'm honestly not sure who I could ask that does, best bet might be to post the question in one of these places:
https://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/forum/2
https://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/forum/7

Hehe, no, why? :P I gave the time range for this project :P Yes, surely it would be XD It took longer than expected.

I shoud ask in the forum? I don't know if I'm worthy :P I wouldn't want to bother this people - big developers and programmers. :)

Ah actually I do know zanzlanz, but he always seems pretty busy with his own projects, can ask him as a last resort if you don't get a good answer here. ;) If the above's not working, one that thing that comes to mind is maybe there are certain character restrictions with medal names, could try without the apostrophe for example...

Zanzlanz? He looks like a skilled programmer :) We'll see... if no one else says anything, you can ask him :)

The above code works :P It connects perfectly in the design view, I tested what happens when there is no internet access :P Then the medal does not unlock :) All characters in the name of the medal are allowed.

Ahh you planned on five months from the start? Really planning ahead then!

Well by posting in the forum you really don't bother anyone, only those with time to answer will do so. ;) I'd feel that way about asking someone directly, unless I know they really have time to spare. Like Zanz. :P Yeah he really gives his craft his all too. It's impressive to see. Never slows down. never loses optimism. It seems, at least!

Ahh in that case is there a problem at all? Thinking ity could be made more efficient? Get some added failsafe? Without Internet connection yeah nothing unlocks, it needs that connection to the API after all. Good to know regarding characters, I tried looking on the wiki regarding that but didn't find anything now, felt like I might've had problems with it earlier but maybe that's been fixed...

Hehe, not 5, but I knew it would take time :P I like planning :) I wanted to make my own calendar with events / updates sometime :P

I'm not used to writing on Forums and rather just looking for information there :P If a guy has time, you can ask :P But if it's not it's no problem. It's nice to hear that there are such people!

No problem :P Only it hasn't been tested in production. It's just a new update / info :P Surely it could be much better written by a profesionaliste. I write very banal. xD

Generally, the NG Wiki is not very detailed and is rather understandable to someone who knows about it, not someone who wants to understand it :P

Ideas of a Reduce wall character come to mind hmm... that'd be pretty cool. :) Myself I've been trying to cut down on planning more and more, the more I plan that I don't accomplish the less I seem to accomplish in the long run! Motivation wanes. Plus all that time that goe into the planning stage in the first place. XD But good plans can be motivating too, of course...

Alright. :) Maybe I'll stumble upon someone in a bit, really can't think of anyone but the ever busy Zanz at the moment...

Ahh alright, hope it does work all the way then...

Yeah it really seems so now. Maybe they've tried cutting out info too; simplifying it as to make it easier to read... been thinking for some time we could really use a better guide for new users too. You don't really get shown the ropes right away when you join here. It's hard to find your way around until you've explored and figured things out yourself, but then again exploring new things might be part of the fun...

Comprehensive guides would make sense at least for an API though!

What character ideas? :P If you say so, it probably is :) Motivation is an interesting issue :P I have a chart of my motivation :P I don't know if I mentioned / showed it. The hardest thing is when something starts :) It's really hard to start. But when you exceed 50%, it is easier :P Hehe, this human nature and laziness :P Surely planning together is fun and the results are much better :)

We will see :P It should be fine, finally my lack, MariogD helped me :P

Me too!

We think the same :P Exactly, it's hard to take advantage of... really!

Yes, it's part of the fun for sure, but not when it's annoying XD

Yes, because it is possible that no one has to do a project with the use of API before.

*wall calendar, I mean. XD

Ohhh... Great, and so on the wall? I meant one in the app XD

Digital would be cool too! :) I'm just olskool. Still have a wall calendar beside me right now - that's basically my slimmed down project planning right now, notable tasks on individual days/a list of ongoing things on the side. :)

Oooh no don't think we've talked about the character earlier, intrigued to hear how that works. How do you measure motivation? Is it a statistics thing, or more so a chart to give you a boost somehow?

Nice. :)

Indeed...

Yeah. Bit discouraging to get into something before you know how it all works, I guess it really is the same way with the site overall, wonder how many people just give up and leave before they really get into it enough...

Yes :P I love creating such new toys :) But they are just cool gadgets. I also have such a wall calendar, but it serves as an ornament on the XD wall The most important thing - let's not leave everything for the last minute :)

Do you think anyone wanted to do like us before? OK, I'll show you the picture, but it's in Polish :P This chart explains.

Nothing more nothing less...

In the evenings, you would like to talk to people, but it is not always possible...

*chart, I mean! XD What's up with me and characters right now...

Except if it's something like a premiere, or appointment, which really has to be on that last minute. ;) For sure!

Hmm don't think I can answer that without the chart but guess I'll see soon. :)

Ah, with the timezones? That's true too...

Yes it is!

OK, Please: https://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/7be06aaf143304f3362cbac2d499aa30
As I mentioned, it's in Polish :P I hope you can handle it :) Do you know Polish?

Yes!

Veeeery barely. XD But there's always Google Translate! So let's see... I understand the long/short and time bars at least, and the stages: scenes, objects, hard part, animation, interactivity, something like that...? The rising bar though, what does this represent? Motivation levels as they go up and down during certain parts? Time use, more/less than expected...? I'd understand if each part had a square bar on a set amount of time, but when it goes up and down even during the duration of each scene hmm... wonder what this means?

Polish is a difficult language :P Hehehe. I also like to use Google Translate xD This is the performance graph (0% - 100%) of the time :P I yes, it follows that: designing a scene and objects (drawing and placing them on the scene) is boring for me, hard to mobilize to start animating :P heheh. When I start, it gets interesting and the closer to the end, the greater commitment and enthusiasm :P

Exactly it works as you think :) You guessed right!

It is indeed. XD Or just very different from the ones I grew up with!

Ahh commitment, so commitment levels rising as you begin, dropping a bit, leveling out, then rising towards the end of the project; dropping again right at the end? Seems commitment was at the highest point at the beginning though, or am I reading this wrong? The lower the bar the better? Btw do the thin curves below the graph mean something to, or just pointing towards the descriptions?

Cool! :P

At first, time increases more than motivation, then dropping a bit, leveling out, then rising towards the end of the project; dropping again right at the end :P

I think that it the best when is falls :P

They indicate the stages of creating a scene :)

Or maybe you meant: the percentage correlates to commitment, more so than the actual project order, so the order is really commitment-related, not chronological, and the bar itself only related to time...? Hope I'm not just overcomplicating this. XD

You actually exaggerated a bit :) Hehe, yeah :P

I want 1st December NOW! >:(

Ohhh Bott*, I can't believe you are so interested in it :P Or are you kidding? XD Anyway, it's nice to hear :) Especially since you hardly ever write something... hmm, recently all of the old guard don't write much... MariogD, Zip, Rash, Mazurek and others... well, they probably don't like this Saga as much as I :P It's hard, I got used to it :)

Regards,
Mejson

Riiight, the lower the time the more motivation...

I wonder if it's me or the graph, but oh well, think I finally understand how it ties together now. XD

If I do more in a shorter amount of time (than usual), the motivation is greater :P Yes, I understand it :) but it's me! Probably my fault xD

Well interesting... I still have to deal with 7 animations for the character in "Look". It is not complicated, but boring :P I also fixed the bugs that were in the project :) Probably I will have 5 more characters to do this weekend.

I'm tired :P I have the feeling that it is a bit tiring to finish the project on time, but I already assume that it must be this day :)

Makes sense when you put it that way. :) Well no faults here, just a lot of misunderstandings! XD

Sounds good. :) Hope you get some good sleep then! And vitamins! And exercise! Hard to stay energized this season, but with the necessary essentials...

Man, it's the first time someone said that I speak meaningfully heheheheeheheh XD Usually hardly anyone understands me! :P

Sometimes I get enough sleep and sometimes I don't :P Take vitamins! Rather bad with exercises! I got fat :P LOL

I would like to be able to finish the whole project on Sunday because on Monday I would like us (everyone who wants and are not lazy xD) to do tests... or maybe someone will find some more bugs before Publishing :P

Practice makes perfect maybe? :P

Ahaha, what happened to those bike rides though, too cold now? Fear of catching a cold again? Feels like a bad cycle with the exercise/tiredness thing though, when I'm too tired it feels like maybe it wouldn't be a good idea to exercise at all, but when i don't exercise at all: even more tired! Seems like even the simplest things seem to make a big difference though. Just started with some 10-15 minute sessions a couple days back, so far so good now...

Sounds perfect. :) Usually people do have more free time during weekends in particular but... should be doable!

Of course! Do you remember my first animation from 2006? And now... there is a big difference :P Currently I'm: Mejson - Master of Stick Animations XD Heheheheheeh

It's too cold and... I don't want to have it again. Angina :P I'm not as tired as I am during my illness :) So there is no tragedy :P Well... I noticed that when I have the release date, I force myself more :) Because if I have something more boring to create, I often do it slowly XD

Great, I don't know who will test, but I suspect that they will be: @Cyberdevil, @Animetion24, @Mejson, @MariogD and maybe @Bott XD

You sure have come a long way! :D

Angina? That's what you had earlier? Mmm that's true, Parkinson's law might have something to do with it too, that 'work expands to fill the time allotted to it'. The longer you have for something the longer it takes. :)

Yes, from 15 years it will be :P Literally :)

Well, I was practically 6 weeks ill, so it couldn't have been a common cold XD

I don't understand this saying :P

It's pretty crazy how time flies. :)

Ahh man that long! Sounds like possible the 'rona after all then? Especially when it was somewhat lung-related?

Well think of it like this: if you're low on time and you have a deadline to meet, then usually you'll rush to get whatever you need to get done faster, right? If however you have months ahead of you then you might not start working right away after all. The more time you give something, the more time it usually takes, that's Parkinson's law. Was a real revelation the first time I heard it...

Well, it's important to leave something behind forever :P How long do you think NG will exist? How are they doing? Good? Are they having any problems?

Only the throat, I didn't even have a fever :P I'm indestructible XD
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJUjX-uQrJw

I have a lot of time P Yes, maybe faster :) Although the artisanal work of animation is so possible, but definitely not design :)

First I hear :P Sounds interesting :P Everything I do takes a long time XD

Have lived my life so far thinking that too, though lately I wonder... is legacy the real meaning? is there maybe a deeper lesson to life we're here to learn? To appreciate the moment? To not contemplate what's after so much but to just live as good as possible while you do? I am doing pretty good though b... oh wait NG. XD Yeaaah I think they're doing alright! Have no idea how the pandemic is affecting the financial situation, maybe not all positive, but it seems the supporter base is growing, events are ongoing, right now it feels promising... you never know though. Nothing lasts forever if it isn't actively maintained. Statues crumble if you don't care for them, no m atter how sturdy the initial foundation is. Hopefully there'll always be incentive to take care of this place! It really could become a historical nexus. One of those places everyone feeels is necceary to preserve to save the culture; development of it through time. No particular problems that I know of right now except probably always a shortage on time/funds for ideal development!

Nice. XD That's good to hear, when you mentioned Angina it seemed a bit more serious anyway!

Paradoxically enough that may be a problem then. XD Though no, the difficulty is really prioritizing, seems like you really have the schedules to manage your time right...

Seems possibly related hmm!

Maybe not, but it's nice to leave something behind :)
Maybe, it's worth appreciating the cool moments: P Live well :) Sure XD

It's good that you are fine :) And NG good? That's good :) Grow stronger NG! Yes, that's good :) I assume optimistically that at least another 100 years :P

It seems to me that this is already a historical place, and one day it could be a cult last place of this type... because elsewhere you can create and add great works so freely / extensively :P

I think it's a place of sub art and culture. It's a free expression and only judged by other users... without some tyrants telling us and telling us to follow their rules.

What does NG need to exist? I mean material goods because I know that some people are paid for NG because it is their job. Yes?

As far as development is concerned I think NG Wiki should be developed by users - then it would be everything clear xD

I'm indestructible hehehe!

Probably you are right! :)

Is! Twentieth Comment! We haven't added so much for a long time! Cool :P
I just wanted to inform you that I have finished adding ActionScript 3.0 code :P This project on finally have: 8932 lines of code :)
